Middle Barton Bowls Club (MBBC)

The Bowls Club is responsible for day to day management of the bowling green and its associated facilities. The Club was established in 1923 so it has existed for over 100 years. It moved to the present site after the BVMHF purchased the land for the playing fields

The green has 6 outdoor rinks which are regularly moved to even out wear. The green is generally considered to be of good quality. There are two changing rooms, storage sheds and a dedicated club building designed to support short mat bowls in the winter months. The club building contains toilets and a kitchen, and is used for post-match refreshments.

From April to September the club plays friendly matches against other local teams, generally these are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Some games are for teams of three and some for teams of four. Members can put their names down for matches they can attend: the number of teams required will depend on the oppositions ability to field teams but could be as many as six. There are also club competitions between members and an annual tournament. Wednesday afternoon is set aside for club practice. In the winter months an in-house competition for short mat bowls is organised on Thursday afternoons.

New members are always welcome; you are also invited to come along and try the game out before deciding to join and tuition will be available. Members also have to be members of the Bartons Memorial Sports and Social Club: the combined membership fees are adults £51, Senior citizens £45 and Juniors £20.50.
